(808) 541-2424. Drydock and repair of USCGC RUSH (WHEC 723), a 378
cutter homeported in Honolulu, Hawaii. Work is scheduled between 28
April and 13 June 1997. All work will be performed in the State of
Hawaii at the contractor's facility capable of dry docking the cutter.
Major work items include : underwater body inspection and preservation
( partial ), sea valve/ waster piece overhaul, ultrasonic measurement
of hull thickness, fathometer transducer renewal, electric motor
overhaul, steering gear hydraulic overhaul, zinc anode renewal,
propeller shaft mechanical seal inspection and repair, thrust bearing
inspection, controllable pitch propeller system maintenance, rudder
stock maintenance, bow propulsion maintenance, hull plating renewal,
bow propulsion drive motor cleaning, and main gas turbine auxiliary
salt water installation. Solicitation pursuant to the Small Business
Competitiveness Demonstration Program will be issued on or about 25
November 1996. Additional note for Women-owned and Disadvantaged
Business Enterprises. The Department of Transportation (DOT) Minority,
Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization has programs to
assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to
acquire short-term working capital assistance for
transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program ( STLP ) at prime interest rates to provide
accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
