(202) 231-2834 The Virginia Contracting Activity, on behalf of the
Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), intends to solicit Commercial
Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Information Technology hardware. The requirement
is for support of a heterogenous Unix and Windows NT environment and
includes UNIX-Based Systems which include servers, workstations,
portable workstations, system monitor/video card, operating systems,
expansion and enhancement module, component and peripherals,
x-terminal, bundled system; Specialized Systems which include
low-end/mid range systems, high-end systems; PC-Based Systems which
include PC Servers, personal computers, portable personal computers,
systems monitor/video card, system expansion and enhancement module,
component and peripherals; Peripherals which include scanner
hardware/software, scanner hardware, scanner software, jukeboxes and
carousels, redundant array of inexpensive disks, printers, high
resolution image printers, laser/page printers, ink-jet printers,
thermal transfer printers, special purpose printers, plotters,
multifunction devices, facsimile devices, multimedia collaborative
environment, projection systems, power projection units, transport
cases, digital cameras, network enhancement devices; Communications
Components which include ATM/SONET devices, routers, bridges and
brouters, hubs, modems, transceivers, repeaters, multiplexors,
concentrators, network interface devices, interconnect controllers. The
requirement includes support for and compatibility with the existing
UNIX baseline hardware and software inventory; and baseline inventory
operating system software maintenance. The Government intends to award
Indefinite-Delivery Type Contracts. It is the Government's intent to
award a sufficient number of contracts to meet its minimum needs. After
contract award, each Delivery Order will be competed in accordance with
FAR SUBPART 16.5. Delivery Order competition among Awardees will be
accomplished electronically. It is the Government's intent to conduct
this acquisition in a manner which takes full advantage of the Federal
Acquisition Streamlining Act (FASA) and the Federal Acquisition Reform
Act (FARA). A DRAFT Solicitation was released on 15 August 1996 to
industry for comment as a result of this last announcement. The
Government is now in the process of considering the comments and
questions provided by industry, and making changes as appropriate. A
copy of the final solicitation will be available via on the WORLD WIDE
WEB, which may be accessed at
