Officer, 301-975-6330 The National Institute of Standards and
Technology (NIST) requires the use of a shipping cask, licensed by the
Nuclear Regulatory Commission to carry NIST Research Reactor spent
fuel for transport from NIST, Gaithersburg, MD to the U.S. Department
of Energy, Savannah River Site, SC. The Government anticipates award of
a firm-fixed-price contract and may make multiple awards. The tentative
schedule is for two (2) shipments in April 1997 and two (2) shipments
in July 1997. Exact dates will be determined by the Department of
Energy and will be provided to the Contractor when known. The
Government will provide operation and health physics personnel to load,
unload, test and survey the cask and arrange for transport and required
notifications. The Contractor shall provide technical support, and
specialized equipment, if any. The Contractor may propose to provide
transport services as an option. All responsible sources may submit a
proposal which shall be considered by the agency. Please request copies
