of Contact, 617-377-9302. HQ Electronic Systems Center intends to issue
a Request for Proposal (RFP) to GEC-Marconi Electronic Systems
Corporation (GEC-Marconi) and Rockwell International, Collins Avionics
and Communications Division (CACD) for the Joint Tactical Information
Distribution System (JTIDS) Class 2/2H Terminal Full Rate Production
II contract. The JTIDS is an advanced radio system that provides
information distribution, position location, and identification
capabilities in an integrated form for application to military
operations. Both GEC-Marconi and CACD were prime contractors on the Low
Rate Initial Production (LRIP) Lots, 1, 2, 3, and 4 contracts and on
the Full Rate Production 1 contracts. GEC-Marconi was the prime
contractor on the LRIP Lot 5 contract. This action is a follow-on
production contract and is being issued pursuant to 10 U.S.C.
2304(c)(1). Only one contract will be awarded. The indefinite
delivery-indefinite quantity (IDIQ) FRP II contract will acquire a Best
Estimated Quantity (BEQ) of seventy-three (73) Class 2/2H terminals,
with spares and ancillary tasks, for the U.S. Air Force, Navy and
Marines, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS). The minimum number of
terminals that will be ordered is thirty-nine (39), the maximum number
is two hundred thirty-one (231). Delivery of terminals will begin
eighteen (18) months after issuance of the first delivery order,
subsequent delivery orders may be placed through 30 September 1999.
