Hirsh, Contracting Officer, 314-263-3234. Air Warrior (AW) is a
Research and Development program for providing a mission-tailorable
system that standardizes and integrates aviation life support equipment
for Army, Navy, and Marine Corps aircrew personnel during flight and
ground operators. AW concentrates on mission equipment and protective
clothing, and equipment that are primarily aircrew-mounted. Some
portions of the system will interface with aircraft mounted equipment
and will require integration throughout a common interface and
designed-in compatibility. This program will be in three phases. The
initial phase (Phase 1) is for an in-depth functional/requirements
analysis which shall consider user requirements and recommend an
approach for the AW system. It is our intent to award two contracts for
this effort and then, in Phase 2, downselect to one contractor which
will develop this system and carry through to initial production (Phase
3). We will not resolicit for the Phase 2 program. Competition will be
limited to the two contractors awarded contracts in Phase 1. A
