3RD ANNUAL ADVANCED TECHNIQUES FOR REPLACING CHROMIUM: AN INFORMATION EXCHANGE AND TECHNOLOGY DEMONSTRATIONS Contact, Ms. Teresa Reed Kishlock, 814-269-2800. Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) is hosting the 3rd Annual Advanced Techniques for Replacing Chromium: An Information Exchange and Technology Demonstrations'' at the Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Champion, PA, from November 4-6, 1996. The Information Exchange is sponsored by the National Defense Center for Environmental Excellence (NDCEE), operated by CTC for the Department of Defense (DOD). The NDCEE leads and supports DOD facilities and the associated industrial base in adopting a comprehensive approach to pollution prevention and addresses other high priority environmental issues. The Information Exchange will provide a forum for discussions of activities aimed at reducing hexavalent chromium. Representatives from industry, military, and regulatory agencies will describe their ongoing projects to eliminate the use of chromium processes and problems encountered in finding and qualifying alternatives. Suppliers with off-the-shelf alternatives will have an opportunity to describe their products and present supporting data and application information. Co-sponsoring this Information Exchange are the Department of Defense (DOD), American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Society, Inc. (AESF), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS), and Society for Vacuum Coaters (SVC). Abstracts summarizing activities regarding chromium alternatives are being accepted for presentations. Also, a limited number of spaces are available for organizations wishing to display their products and services regarding chromium alternatives. A variety of chromium alternative process technologies will be demonstrated at CTC's Demonstration Factory in Johnstown, PA, on November 5. Attendees are invited to submit parts or samples to be coated by these processes during the demonstrations.
