The purpose of this modification is to add Student Dormitory 526 to provide all necessary services and materials to replace the built-up roof and insulation; replace windows in bedrooms; replace floor covering; replace 14,000 MBtu boiler with two smaller boilers and piping as required, and remove and dispose of asbestos from piping and equipment in mechanical room; replace heat and air conditioning units and thermostats in dormitory rooms; replace shower pans, water closets, urinals, sinks, and sink accessories, drain lines and center sets; replace electrical receptacles, replace lamps and diffusers; replace emergency exit lighting; repair laundry room ventilation; and paint interior. Asbestos is present and will be disposed of in this project. All work will provide a complete and usable facility. Cost of project to repair Student Dorms 526 and 596 is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. Performance time to repair both dorms is extended to 600 calendar days. Bid opening is scheduled for 2 Dec 96. Acquisition shall be for full and open competition. Availability of this solicitation is limited to one copy per requestor.
