The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a requirement to purchase 50lb Box of Dry Ice, Rice Pellets on a competitive basis. The dry ice pellets is used both in biochemical and chemical labs at NIH. For biochemical labs, it is used for keeping samples frozen on the bench until used (after removal from large -80C freezers). It also us used in many of the speed vac concentrators to prevent solvents from getting into the rotary pumps and thus in to the atmosphere (used in the cold trap). For chemical laboratories, it will be used for sample concentration, but is also necessary for stopping chemical reactions (cooling rapidly), performing reactions at much reduced temperatures, refluxing of low boiling solvents and gases (e.g. ammonia) and trapping the solvents from rotary evaporators. All responsible small business sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be considered by the agency. All requests for quotations must be within the Simplidied Acquisition Thereshold $100,000.
