Y -- CONSTRUCTION PROJECT TO EXPAND THE BULK MAIL CENTER, JACKSONVILLE, FL SOL 475450-97-A-0001 DUE 121196 POC Tim Bonsall, Purchasing Specialist, 202/268-6286 The work includes building and site demolition, an addition (approximately 297,000 SF) to an existing bulk mail processing facility, replacing existing HVAC chillers and pumps, additions and upgrades to existing electrical switchgear, construction of a new storage building ( approximately 10,640 SF) containing a fire protection water pumping station, site clearing, grading, paving and drainage, fencing, new and upgraded on-site service utilities systems, and improvements to off-site public roadways. The Contractor will demolish an existing primary electrical switchyard and replace it with a larger switchyard at a new on-site location. The building load switchover from the existing to the new switchyard will be performed in two stages so that electrical service to the facility is not interrupted. The work under this contract includes removal and disposal of existing contaminated soils at the northeast corner of the existing BMC building and backfilling the excavation with new material. Lead based paint may exist at locations where new construction connects to the existing BMC building. This contract includes the discovery, removal, and disposal of such lead based paint as may be required to safely perform the work of demolishing existing building elements and attaching the new construction. The Contractor shall advise the Postal Service two weeks in advance of disturbing any existing lead based paint. This is a prequalified project. Only prequalified contractors will be allowed to submit proposals on this project. Humphreys Blvd., Memphis, TN 38166-0300. The cost of the package is $250, and is non-refundable. The Postal Service will only accept checks or money orders, and they must be made payable to the USPS Disbursing Officer. Reference the solicitation number on your request. A Pre-Proposal Conference will be held at the Bulk Mail Center, PEDC Conference Room, at 10:00am, on November, 13, 1996.
