A -- FIELD LAUNDRY SOL DAAK60-97-R-9603 DUE 111296 POC Contract Specialist EMILY A. SMITH (508) 233-4368 (Site Code DAAK60) U.S. Army Soldier Systems Command (SSCOM) has a requirement for a new water-based field laundry. This acquisition will employ oral presentations and result in a hybrid contract consisting of CPFF CLINs for the initial development (12 months R&D, 4 months testing) and FFP ID/IQ for the resultant production quantities (3 years). The laundry must process between 375 and 450 pounds of clothing per hour (dry to dry). Two soldiers will operate the laundry for a ten hour shift, two shifts per day. The laundry must operate on alternating current (AC), 3 phase (120/208 volts 50/60 hertz) supplied from both standard Army power units and commercial power sources (foreign or domestic). The maximum power draw shall not exceed 30 kilowatts. The laundry must recycle 95 to 98 percent of the water to operate effectively in water scarce environments. Daily water consumption shall not exceed 500 gallons. The laundry will be mounted on a standard Army trailer and be capable of cross country and limited rough terrain travel. The laundry will operate in the field in temperatures between 33 degrees F and 90 degrees F. Operations above or below these temperatures will be conducted inside an Army shelter. The Army intends to buy 216 laundries at a maximum rate of 36 per year. SIC Code 3431 has been selected for this acquisition. The Request for Proposal (RFP) will be released on or about 12 Nov 96.
