Force will be issuing a solicitation for someone to do post-doctoral
research in the area of numerical modeling of groundwater contaminant
fate and transport. Research shall be done for one year, on-site at the
Department of Engineering and Environmental Management, Graduate School
of Engineering, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT),
Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. A transport model shall be developed which
incorporates the following processes: (1) 2-dimensional flow, (2)
advection/dispersion, (3) rate-limited sorption (described by either
first-order kinetics or Fickian diffusion), and (4) biodegradation. The
contractor will be expected to interact and guide AFIT graduate
students who are involved in similar research activities, as well as do
some limited teaching (approximately one lecture hour per quarter).

Ombudsman has been established for this acquisition. The only purpose
of the Ombudsman is to receive and communicate serious concerns from
potential offerors when an offeror prefers not to use established
channels to communicate his/her concern during the proposed development
phase of this acquisition. Potential offerors should use established
channels to request information, pose questions, and voice concerns

date will be 12 Nov 96. The anticipated award date will be 06 Feb 97.
