Officer, 757/628-4651. Provide all labor, material and equipment
necessary to perform routine dockside repairs to the USCGC Rambler
(WLIC-298) and Barge. The major items which may be performed include
but are not limited to the following: 1. welding repairs, 2. renew
weathertight doors, 3. renew stack drain piping, 4. inspect and test
cargo weight handling gear, 5. renew vermiculite coating in barge 6.
preserve barge construction deck, 7. preserve tender buoy deck, 8.
preserve weather decks, 8. renew overhead insulation, 9. temporary
messing, 10. preserve crane cradle, 11. install watertight doors, and
12. provide temporary logistics. Vessel is restricted from Tampa, FL,
to Philadelphia, PA, via the Intra Coastal Waterway. The availability
is scheduled to begin 03 February 1997 for 21 days. Vessel length is
100' and the barge length is 68'. There will be a non-refundable charge
required in the form of a certified check or money order made payable
to the U.S. Coast in the amount of $100.00 for requested U.S. Coast
Guard specification reference drawings. The proposed contract listed
here is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration
Program and is open to both large and small businesses. Plans and
specifications will be issued on or after 12 November 1996. All
responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the
United States Coast Guard. For Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged
Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of
Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization has programs to assist
minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire
short-term working capital and bonding assistance for Lending Program
(STLP) at prime interest rates up to $500,000 per contract to provide
accounts receiving financing. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program
enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to
$500,000 per contract. DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond
