R -- TRAINING AND MONITORING OF ALCOHOL COUNSELORS SOL RFP 689-25-97 DUE 120396 POC Mark Phillips, 203-937-3086 Contractor shall provide an integrated, long-term program for training and monitoring of Alcohol Counselors in the 12-Step method of counseling. The purpose of this training is to assure consistency among Counselors in their sessions with patients involved in a VA Cooperative Study on the effects of a drug in the treatment of alcoholism. The contractor shall provide an initial two day training session with 30 VA Counselors (2 each from 15 study sites). The contractor shall provide training manuals to each counselor. Contractor shall provide on-going supervision of counselors throughout the period of the study, to assure adherence to the manualized approach to counseling. Quarterly reports shall be provided to the study chairmen throughout the research study.
