N68335-97-RFI-701 due 27 Nov 96. POC: Dianne Mount, Code 213,
908-323-2903. This is a Request for Information only. There is no
solicitation package available. Overview: This request is for
information on products and technical expertise for the subject device.
The energy absorber(s) or brake assembly(ies) will be used to arrest a
350 to 450 pound aircraft captured in a net. The energy absorber(s)
must connect to the four corners of a 39 foot wide by 30 foot high net
via lines and/or webbing of sufficient strength for its use. The
engaging velocity of the aircraft relative to the recovery system is
between 50 and 70 knots. Design deceleration of 4 Gs. Design stopping
distance of 30-35 feet. The system will be installed and operated on a
weather deck in a shipboard environment at all times and in any kind
of weather. It will be exposed to the corrosive effects of a maritime
environment. Maximum envelope dimensions of 24 inches wide by 36 inches
long by 36 inches high; corrosion resistant material. Specific
information which would be helpful is as follows: 1. Product brochures
and technical literature; 2. Existing pertinent test data; 3.
Engineering drawings; 4. Supplier cage number; 5. Supplier part
numbers; 6. Product warranties; 7. Resume of company's experience and
expertise with product area/function. The Government will not pay for
any information received in response to this RFI. Information should be
submitted to Contracting Officer, Code 213100B129-2, Naval Air Warfare
Center, Highway 547, Lakehurst, NJ 08733-5083 no later than 27 Nov 96.
