The Marine Corps Systems Command is seeking information concerning nondevelopmental lightweight assault matting to enable military wheeled and tracked vehicles to quickly traverse impassable terrain of mud, sand, snow, etc. The matting when deployed should be a minimum 12 feet wide and have the capability to be deployed in unlimited length through a simple connecting procedure. The matting should be designed in such a way as to minimize the amount of storage space required to transport. The matting should also be capable of handling tracked vehicles in excess of 70 tons and all types of military wheeled vehicles. The system should be capable of operation during amphibious landings and during subsequent inland operations. The system should resist corrosion as well as meet all applicable EPA standards. The matting should be reusable and require no specialized training in order to deploy. Interested sources should submit a 1 foot square sample, description, technical data, and test data regarding their system at no cost or obligation to the Government. Written responses should be submitted not later than 2 DEC 1996. No solicitation package is currently available.
