703-875-1863. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)
will hold its fifth in a series of public meetings at 9:00 am on
Wednesday, November 20, 1996, at the Chicago World Trade Center located
at 350 North Orleans St., Chicago, Illinois. The purpose of this
conference is to introduce the opportunities offered by USAID to the
U.S. private business sector, especially small and disadvantaged
enterprises. USAID administers the U.S. foreign economic assistance
program around the world, providing assistance in developing countries
to improve and promote economic stability and world peace in support
of U.S. Foreign policy. The U.S. business community plays a vital role
in meeting the challenges of international development. USAID
encourages all businesses interested in development work to attend this
important one-day conference. It is anticipated that several Senior
level USAID officials will make introductory remarks including The
Assistant Administrator for Management. The meeting will be held in the
Holiday Inn Mart Plaza at the World Trade Center. The meeting format
will include both a general session and breakout seminars, to discuss
topics of interest to different groups. Topics will include: export
opportunities, contracting procedures for technical services,
geographic region overview, and subcontracting opportunities. Questions
for the open forum should be presented at the meeting and should not be
submitted in advance. Position papers are not being solicited. A
registration fee of $45.00 for members of the World Trade Center and
$55 for other participants will be required. This fee includes, a
continental breakfast, a luncheon and conference materials. Please make

entities, universities, private voluntary organizations, Gray Amendment
organizations, profit making organizations, non- and not-for- profit
organizations, sole proprietorships, and other organizations either
