The US Army ARDEC is seeking sources for the delivery of 120MM, Anti-Personnel tank cartridges for test and evaluation against US requirements. Candidate cartridges must be compatible with the M256 smooth-bore gun used on the M1A1 series tank. The round is intended to be used against ground troops and dismounted anti-tank weapon teams beyond 4000 meters. The round is required to function at muzzle exit and contain both a tracer and a burst marker that are visible to 3000 meters. The round shall not exceed 62 pounds in total weight. 50 cartridges must be delivered by April 1997 and another 600 by April 1998 with the potential delivery of approximately 3000-5000 production cartridges beginning in FY99. The intent is to award a contract for the initial 50 rounds with an option for the additional 600, which will be exercised given satisfactory test results of the 50. The production quantity will also be included as a priced option. The item must have completed development and be ready for operational use. Conceptual designs/proposals for an anti-personnel round will not be considered.
