COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 4,1996 PSA#1714National Cancer Institute, Research Contracts Branch, PSCS 6120
Executive Blvd., EPS/ROOM 634, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-7227 66 -- PLUS PEPTIDE SYNTHESIZER SOL RFQ70005-NS POC Patricia Haun,
Contracting Officer, 301-402-4509. The National Cancer Institute (NCI)
requires delivery and installation of a 9050 Plus Peptide Synthesizer
from PerSeptive Biosystems, Inc., 500 Old Connecticut Path,
Farmingham, MA 01701. The NCI Laboratory of Tumor Immunology and
Biology develops methods of inducing the immune system to recognize and
reject tumor cells bering tumor-associated antigens, and must
synthesize large panels of different peptides and/or large amounts of
individual peptides in performing this research. The Perseptive 9050
PLUS synthesizer will enable NCI to increase capabilities in three ways
1) Improvements in coupling chemistry to shorten the time required for
synthesis (up to 3 peptides can be synthesized simultaneously). 2)
Peptides can be produced in a wide range of synthesis scales with
automatic adjustment of parameters such as flow rate and reagent
consumption. 3) Synthesis of peptieds greater than 30 amino acids in
lenth is facilitated. The equipment will enable NCI to link several
sequences together to improve immunogenicity and delivery to cell, and
will be driven by a dedicated computer workstation, utilize
prepackaged reagents, and include a manual injection port and feedback
monitoring. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive
proposals. However, if any interested party believes that it can meet
the above requirements, it may submit a statement of capabilities.
Information furnished shall include sufficient detail to determine if
the equipment meets the foregoing requirements, and must be received
with 20 days of publication of this notice. See Note 22. (0305) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0233 19961101\66-0003.SOL)
