The Cancer Information Service has nineteen (19) regional offices throughout the United States which serve as field offices for the NCI Office of Cancer Communications (Note:The offerors are responsible for indicating the region(s) they propose to serve). The CIS network is designed to facilitate and encourage local adoption and adaptation of OCC information and educational programs to improve the level and quality of information provided to the public and to address local needs. The objectives of the CIS program are the following: (1) To support a network of regional CIS offices throughout the country that will serve as outlets for NCI to disseminate information on cancer to the public and health professionals and serve as catalysts for the adoption and adaptation of OCC educational programs, materials, and messages in the community. (2) To operate a toll-free telephone service in the regional offices to provide cancer patients and their families, health professionals, and the general public with rapid access to accurate, up-to-date, unbiased information on cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. (3) To mobilize local media and community-based organizations to use and adapt OCC programs, materials, and messages in support of NCI education initiatives. (4) To establish reliable data collection strategies and dissemination techniques to facilitate evaluation of the role of communications strategies in reducing morbidity and mortality from cancer. The main areas this project focuses on are as follows: Management Approach, Outreach Program, Telephone Service, Resources, Referral Systems, Program enrichment Activities, Liaison with NCI and CIS Network, Program Staff Management, Administrative Procedures and Facilities and Equipment. Your Technical Proposal shall be limited to 25 pages or less. The institution's educational or service overhead rates shall be used. The contract will have a Base Year award with two, six month options. Request for solicitations must be in writing. Telegraph/fax request are not acceptable.
