The General Services Administration, (GSA) 18th & F Streets, NW., Washington, DC 20405 is seeking potential sources for the Integrated Circuit Chip (ICC) Smart Card Pilots. GSA is conducting a market survey to identify companies interested in the subject program. GSA will undertake a number of smart card pilots for GSA employees in the Washington DC area with the intent of combining multiple applications on a single card platform. Potential applications include employee identification, building access, controlled access, LAN access, travel applications and access to both in-house and commercial financial networks. The proposed card platform should have the capacity to add additional financial applications (including stored value and other electronic cash applications) on a direct migration path. In addition to building access points, terminal interface would include personal computers, kiosks, Automated Teller Machines (ATM) and Point of Sale (POS) terminals. Vendors who have experience in developing multi application smart card systems including employee identification and controlled access will be selected based on vendor presentations. Evaluated information will include user friendliness, east of entry, effects on time, personnel, interoperability vis-a-vis cards and readers, read/write capabilities, multiple media capability, consistency with existing and emerging industry standards and technical specifications, security, modularity, ability to interface with existing legacy systems, and cost.
