5293. The Environmental Protection Agency contemplates the award of
approximately 30 contracts under the SBIR Program Phase I during Fiscal
Year 1997. The SBIR Program is a program under which a portion of a
Federal agency's research or R&D budget is reserved for several phases.
During Phase I, which is covered by this solicitation, contractors
shall conduct feasibility related experimental or theoretical research,
or R&D efforts on described agency topics. During Phase II, contractors
shall perform the principle research or R&D effort. Funding for Phase
II shall be based upon the results of Phase I and the scientific and
technical merit of the Phase II proposal. The topics for FY97 Phase I
are: (A) Drinking Water Treatment; (B) Municipal and Industrial
Wastewater Treatment and Pollution Control; (C) Wet Weather Flow
Treatment and Pollution Control; (D) Rehabilitation of Urban
Infrastructure Systems; (E) Prevention and Control of Indoor Air
Pollution; (F) Prevention and Control of NOx, VOC's, SO2, and Toxic Air
Emissions; (G) Treatment, Recycling, and Disposal of Solid Wastes,
Hazardous Wastes and Sediments; (H) In Situ Site Remediation of
Organically Contaminated Soil, Sediments and Ground Water; (I)
Treatment or Removal of Heavy Metals at Contaminated Sites; (J)
Pollution Prevention; and, (K) Advanced Monitoring and Analytical
Technologies. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. The
SIC Code is 8731 and the Small Business Size Standard is 500 employees.
The solicitation will be available on or about November 13, 1996 with
proposals due on January 16, 1997. The solicitation will be available
via the Internet World Wide Web at http://www.epa.gov/ncerqa, once on
the home page select the Small Business button. Firms are encouraged to
access the solicitation on the Internet. Firms that wish to receive a
hardcopy must submit a written request to the contact point at the
address listed above; you will receive a diskette with the solicitation
in WordPerfect 6.1 format. Only one copy shall be issued to a corporate
entity, regardless of the number of requests from one or more different
geographic locations. Firms that submitted proposals last year will NOT
automatically receive a hardcopy of this solicitation. Technical
