The Alaska Region of the USDA Forest Service intends to issue and award a one year contract with four one year renewal options to ATT Alascom, on November 20, 1996, for Southeast Alaska Frame Relay services. The frame relay service is for a minimum 56 kbps port speeds with a committed information rate minimum of 32 kbps to connect the following Forest Service locations in Southeast Alaska: Juneau, Petersburg, Wrangell, Ketchikan, Craig, Thorne Bay, Sitka, Hoonah and Yakutat. If frame relay service is not available at a particular location, a 56 kbps dedicated line must be provided for connection to the frame relay cloud. Appropriate CSU/DSU equipment must be provided at each site. The estimated cost is initial installation of approximately $5,700 and a recurring monthly cost of approximately $6,700. The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302.
