equipment, materials, transportation, and supervision necessary for the
installation of a new hydronic heating system for a 23,000 sq. ft.
facility, including a new 1.5MMBTU boiler, 45' chimney, 1000 gallon
fuel tak, and related piping and accessories, including the removal of
the existing steam heating system. The project is located in and
around Building 45 on the NUWC Complex in New London, Connecticut.
On-site work shall commence in the Spring '97. The estimated cost of
this project is between $100,000 and $250,000. SIC code is 1711.
Performance time is 60 calendar days after issuance of Notice to
Proceed. Solicitation Packages to be available ooa November 20, 1996,
and may be obtained from: Contracting Officer, CEU Providence, 300
Metro Center Blvd., Warwick, RI 02886, Attn: Frank Pfeiffer. There is
a $20 nonrefundable fee for this package. Written requests only will be
accepted. Requests will be honored until supply is exhausted. Bid
opening date is December 20, 1996. This project is issued pursuant to
the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration program, and is
unrestricted. THE FOLLOWING NOTICE IS PROVIDED AS INFORMATION FOR
MINORITY, WOMEN-OWNED, AND DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES: The
Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women
owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term
capital and bonding assistance for transportation related contracts.
This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier.
The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid,
payment and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT
provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against
losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term lending program
(STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable
financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.00. For further
