Provide improvements to the existing Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center (MGVC) through demolition and clean-up, reconstruction of existing building and construction of a new addition. Provide new utility service including electrical, sewer, water, communications, oil tank and drainage. Excavate tunnel and elevator shaft and provide and install elevator and numerouse other improvements to the center. The MGVC is located at the base of the Menenhall Valley approximatly 11 miles from downtown Juneau, Alaska and can be reached by road. Contract time is 395 calendar days with an anticipated start work date of April 1, 1997. There is a tentative prebid meeting scheduled. The date and time of the meeting will be stated in the solicitation. Evaluation criteria for award in addition to price will be management approach (safety plan, quality control plan, proposed project schedule, suncontracting plan/Support of Small Disadvantaged Business, etc.), and past performance. It is anticipated that the solicition documents will be issued on or about December 10, 1996.
