The Federal Highway Administration has a requirement for the repair and renovation of the Fairbank and Annex building roofs at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center in McLean, Virginia. The Fairbank building is a 3 story structure with a central flat roof section surrounded by a sloped tile roof. The facade is brick masonry. The roof structure consists of 2 inch tongue and groove wood decking supported by steel framing. Roof construction consists of gravel surfaced 3-ply asphalt and organic felt built up roof membrane moppeed to a mechanically fastened base sheet, over a rosin paper slip sheet applied to the surface of the tongue and groove wood decking. The Annex building is also a 3 story structure with at central flat roof section surrounded by a sloped tile roof. The facade is brick masonry. Roof construction consists of a gravel surfaced 3-ply asphalt and organic felt built-up roofing membrane mopped to a structural concrete deck. It is anticipated that an Invitation for Bids (IFB) will be issued with complete specifications and drawings outlining the work to be performed on or about December 7, 1996 with a bid opening planned for mid-January. The IFB will also provide details for a pre-proposal survey at the site of the buildings. The estimated price for this project is between $100,000 and $175,000. This requirement ins 100-Percent small business set-aside pursuant to S.I.C Code 1761.
