75 -- PORTFOLIOS SOL RFI-97-002RT POC Frances Toole, 301-457-1831 This is a Request for Information (RFI) to furnish approximately 400,000 portfolios to be delivered to Jeffersonville, Indiana. Delivery will be required December 1998. Approximately 15,000 of he 400,000 portfolios will require the legend ''Puerto Rico Census 2000'' all others will read ''U. S. Census 2000''. The plastic used for the base material is to be extruded high density polyethylene sheet within specifications: Density (ASTM D1505) .95 to .96 G/CC; Melt Index (ASTM D1238) .20 to .35 G/10 Min.; Environmental Stress Crack Resistance (ASTM D1693) 60 hours @ 50Deg F.; Tensile Strength (ASTM D638) 3800PSI; Brittleness Temp. (ASTM D746) -150 Deg F. The color of the portfolio shall be charcoal with the outside pocket white, with two-color (red and blue) silk screening. The adjustable hand/shoulder carrying strap (woven fiber 48'' long by one-inch wide) color shall be charcoal or black. The size shall be 15'' wide and 11-1/2'' deep with expansion of 3-1/2''. The top 2'' of the legend will be red, with the legends printed in blue. The bottom 2'' will be blue, with the legend in white. There shall be a tapered front closing flap 6-1/4'' long with rounded bottoms and a closing 1 by 2'' device made of ''hook and loop''(velcro or equal) attached to the face to insure no failures after 1,000 disengagements. Heat and pressure scoring will be required. A .020 thick white plastic open pocket will be required on the front closing side of the portfolio. Interested vendors are requested to submit their ability to provide the above described requirement and an estimated cost.
