Officer, 301-286-0792. NASA Goddard Space Flight Center intends to
issue RFP5-09336 on a sole source basis to Boeing Defense and Space
Group, P. O. Box 3999, Seattle, Washington, 98124-2499, for the
purchase of an electronically steered X-band phased array antenna to be
flown as a demonstration of new technology on the New Millennium
Project (NMP) Earth Orbiting One (EO-1) mission, under authority of 10
U.S.C. 2304(C) (1)-Only One Responsible Source. The contemplated
contract with Boeing is expected to be firm-fixed priced with a
delivery date of a flight-ready X-band phased array antenna by March
1998. This flight demonstration is a precursor to using this type of
antenna operationally in the Ka-band. Boeing and its phased array
technology was competitively selected to be an Integrated Product
Development Team (IPDT) partner in the development of advanced
communications technology for the next generation of NASA science
missions. No other source is known to have the capability to meet the
requirements of the Government under the launch schedule and budget
constraints. Any other firms desiring consideration must provide a
written technical narrative statement of their capability, including
detailed technical information demonstrating their ability to meet the
specifications within 15 days of the publication of this notice to the
address above, via facsimile at 301 286-1720, or by e-mail at
carol.s.bleile.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. The use of faxed or e-mail requests is
solely with the interested party. The response shall be sufficient to
permit agency analysis to establish bona fide capability to meet all
