48 -- SUB-MINIATURE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE SOL N68936-R-96-0262 POC Colette Escobar, Contract Specialist, (619) 939-2983 and Diane Foucher. NAWCWPNS is seeking to promote competition by identifying available sources for a sub-miniature pressure relief valve modified to Government drawing 639AS9310. These sub-miniature valves are installed in the Sidewinder Guidance Control System (GCS). The valve shall be tested for the following characteristics: (1) small enough to replace a 10-32 screw which allows it to be installed without taking the missile GCS apart; (2) does not open before 25 psi and is fully open by 45 psi; (3) has a permanent indicator that has been activated; (4) reseals each time the pressure in the missile increases and decreases; and (5) interfaces with other parts of the missile. This valve was previously procured under RFP #N68936-96-R-0262 on an other than full and open competition basis from the Lee Company, Westbrook, CT. Consideration for future procurements depends on the contractor's timely qualification of the valve and the Government's need. Interested sources need to successfully complete qualification prior to award of any future contract. The Government will not be liable for any costs associated with development or qualification testing of the Pressure Relief Valve. Qualification test procedures are included on Drawing 639AS9310. Note that all qualification testing is to be witnessed by Naval Air Warfare Center personnel.
