National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to
negotiate with Molecular Dynamics, 928 East Arques Avenue, Sunnyvale,
CA 94086-4520 on a sole source basis for 1 ea Catalog Number 595-PC
Molecular Dynamics FLUORIMAGER 595 and IMAGEQUANT for Windows NT.
Complete fluorescence imaging system including 488 nm and 514 nm laser
excitation. Includes a glass tray, an extended tray, and a microplatc
tray. Internal 515 nm ong pass filter included with four selectable
emission filters (530 nm, 570 nm, 550 nm, and 610 nm bandpass) for
multiple color applications. Includes ImageQuant for Windows NT, scan
control for use with Windows NT, Fluorimager system software, SCSI
cable. The Government requires documentation to include (4) copies of
the User's Manual and (4) copies of the instructions for customer
installation. Required Delivery within 90 days after contract award.
FOB Destination Gaithersburg, MD and a one year warranty. The
Government intends to solicit one source under the authority of FAR
6.302-1 Only One Responsible Source, because Molecular Dynamics is the
only manufacturer that can provide a upgrade to the existing
Fluorimager system. The Government requires a flat-bed fluorescent
scanner for DNA research. This upgrade will allow achievement of
two-line laser excitation capability and enhanced capability to analyze
tagged DNA fragments in a multiplexed mode. This system must run on a
Windows NT Platform. The system must include wavelength of 488 nm and
514 nm which will allows us to analyze the same materials on our ABI
373 DNA sequencer for validation. The system must be supplied with
emission filters (530, 570, 550, and 610 nm bandpass) which enables the
use of a wide range of Fluorescent tags. Request for a solicitation
package will be disregarded. Interested offerors may identify their
interest and capability to respond to the requirements by submitting a
capability statement. The capability statement must provide adequate
information and qualifications of your ability to provide the requested
system in order for the Government to consider whether to open this
request for competition. However, all capability statements received
within 45 days after date of preparation of this synopsis, will be
considered by the Government. See Note Numbered 22 (0317) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0206 19961113\66-0001.SOL)
