Solicitation Notice: Work to be performed consists of furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment for the demolition of interior partitions, mechanical, and electrical systems, and the construction of an Outpatient Department to accommodate approximately 5,720 square feet located in the South Wing of the first Floor of SEARHC Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital. Estimate of construction ranges from $500,000 to $1 million. Work will include demolition of existing interior wood stud walls, suspended ceilings, interior finishes, plumbing, sprinkler system, heating piping and convectors, exhaust fans, electrical conduit, wiring, and lighting fixtures. Asbestos containing materials have been identified on piping in pipe chases, walls, through floors and ceilings. New construction will include installation of metal stud walls and furring, drywall for exam rooms, corridors, waiting areas, nurse stations, and specialty storage areas. An airhandling unit will be installed on an existing roof adjacent to the construction. A majority of ductwork, electrical systems, sprinkler systems, and communication systems will be installed above suspended ceilings. The building will remain occupied adjacent to the construction area. Technical drawings and specifications are presented using International System of Units (SI) (Metric) ``soft conversion'' wherein metric equivalents are substituted for standard inch-pound measurements. A non-refundable fee of one hundred and seventy-five dollars (175.00) per set for bid documents is required from each interested bidder. Checks are to be made payable to SEARHC and mailed or delivered to the office of SEARHC Facility Management, 222 Tongass Drive, Sitka, Alaska 99835. Bid documents will be available December 2, 1996 at the address listed above. Contract completion time is 240 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed. Preference in the award of this contract shall be given to 51% Indian and Alaskan Native owned and operated organizations or enterprises if sufficient eligible firms are identified which can demonstrate the capability to perform the contract work of the size and type involved and within the time frame provided above.
