Open and inspect the starboard main engine reduction gear. Clear the sump, measure & record all bearing clearances & gear backlash readings. Provide condition report. Reassemble reduction gear, refill sump, test operation of reduction gear in conjunction with main engine tests. All work shall be accomplished by a contractor recognized by the manufacturer. all components and parts used shall be new original equipment manufacturer (OEM) non-surplus components and parts. RFQ 97-2246 will be available on or about November 18, 1996 and will close 11 days later. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered by the agency. Period of performance: 12/18/96 - 1/30/97 (44 days) with no work to be performed aboard ship from 12/25/96 - 1/1/97). FOB point is DESTINATION.
