Specialist, OP-ESO-A, 867-7230. This project consists of modernizing
the LC-39 Firex Water Systems at Pad A and B and the VAB Utility Annex.
The Pad Pump House effort requires demolition of two existing 6000 gpm
diesel driven fire pump assemblies, controls and ancillary equipment
and installation and start-up of four new 3500 gpm diesel driven pump
assemblies including controls, new hydo-pneumatic system, ancillary
equipment, and associated piping. One pump must be kept inservice at
all times and service outages minimized. Effort inside the Pads
consists of demolition of two electric pumps (1000 hp and 500 hp),
converting a hydro-pneumatic system to a surge system, and removing
ancillary equipment and piping. The effort at the VAB Utility Annex
consists of replacing three firex pumps and controls, refurbishing
three existing diesel engines, and adding a new retunr test pipe from
the firex pumps discharge to an existing water reservoir. Plan to issue
solicitation package on or before 11/18/96.--Magnitude of project is
between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.--Period of Performance: 730 calendar
