The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has a requirement to grind, polish, and widen an existing 240-ft. x 10-ft. runway to a smooth finish. The services needed are as follows: Grind and polish an existing length of concrete runway 240-ft. x 10-ft. Widen 231-ft. of the existing runway by adding a 5-ft. reinforced and attached concrete extension, that will be hard steel troweled to a smooth finish. Relocate the cable guide next to the existing runway. Pour a reinforced concrete pad 36-ft. 4-in. x 25-ft. x 6-in., also hard steel trowel finished next to the FOIL garage, and treat all sections of concrete with a weather resistant concrete sealer. The location is The Federal Outdoor Impact Laboratory at the Turner Fairbank Highway Research Center in McLean, Virginia.
