Contracting Officer NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO)
for Shop Equipment-- Machine, 5-Axes Vertical Profiling & Contouring,
with advanced Acramatic 950 controls, 30V series--Some of the
construction features include the following: AC Feed Drives; Spindle
Carriers (super duty); Feed Back Units; Inch/Metric Switchable; Coolant
System; Hydraulic & Pneumatic Equipment; Standard Electrical Equipment;
Complete Automatic Lubrication; Acramatic 950 Controls; Safety Devices;
and Casting and Forgings -- Complete specifications will be included in
the RFO -- This procurement is being conducted under the NASA/MSFC
MidRange Pilot Test Program approved by the Office of Federal
Procurement Policy on April 16, 1993 -- Prospective offerors shall
notify this office of their intent to submit an offer -- Transmission
by facsimile to 205-544-9080 or by Internet e-mail to
janice.stewart@msfc.nasa.gov is acceptable -- Firm date for receipt of
offers will be stated in the RFO-- All responsible business sources
may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency-- An
ombudsman has been appointed to hear concerns from offerors, potential
offerors, and contractors during the preaward and postaward phases of
this acquisition -- The purpose of the ombudsman is not to diminish
the authority of the contracting officer or the selection official, but
to communicate concerns, issues, disagreements, and recommendations of
interested parties to the appropriate Government personnel and to work
to resolve them -- When requested, the ombudsman will maintain strict
confidentiality as to the source of the concern -- The ombudsman does
not participate in the evaluation of offers, the source selection
process, or the adjudication of formal contract disputes -- Interested
parties are invited to call the installation ombudsman, Susan M. Smith
at 205-544-0012 -- Concerns, issues, disagreements, and recommendations
which cannot be resolved at the installation may be referred to the
NASA ombudsman, Thomas S. Luedtke at 202-358-2090 -- Before consulting
with any ombudsman, interested parties must try to resolve their
concerns with the contract specialist or the contracting officer -- DO
