Amendment 1 - This synopsis is an additional topic to the Human
Research and Engineering Directorate (HRED). This amendment will be
available on the ARL Home Page (http://w3.arl.mil/baa) TOPIC 5.6
Logistics Decision Support. The HRED is seeking proposals for
innovative research, design, development, integration, and technical
support to extend the decision support capabilities currently being
demonstrated in the Logistics Anchor Desk. Primary interest is in
advanced decision aids to assist key logisticians at strategic,
operational, tactical levels to rapidly generate and evaluate logistics
support concepts, monitor and assess logistics support plans,
anticipate and analyze the combat impact of disruptive logistics
events, analyze, manipulate, and present data from heterogeneous data
sets, and synthesize and present coherent, succinct logistics
briefings. The research results, after evaluation exercise
environments, may also include demonstration and validation of the
proposed improvements in an operational site under the Joint Logistics
Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration. Typical decision aids
encompass knowledge-based planning and scheduling technlogies including
analysis, animation, comparison, and visualization tools, explanation,
automatic graphics generation, multi-echelon interaction, shared map
and data presentations, intregrated planning techniques to allocate
common resources, interactive planning, and dynamic replanning.
Narrowly focused proposals (e.g., one supply class or service) and
broadly based proposals (e.g., integration of several logistics
analysis tools) are acceptable. The proposed technical approach must
demonstrate the following charateristics: (a) Understanding of the full
spectrum of joint logistics planning and execution functions of crisis
action planning, mobilization, deployment, sustainment, redeployment,
and demobilization as practiced at strategic, operational, and
tactical levels. All responsible sources may submit a bid or proposal
which will be considered by the Agency. No telephone requests will be
honored. (0323) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0002 19961119\A-0002.SOL)
