Marion Carter (202) 219-8706. The U.S. Department of Labor/Employment
and Training Administration is soliciting bids for the construction of
a new Job Corps Center in Chicago. Nine buildings will be constructed,
including associated site and utility work. These buildings are: Three
Dormitories (2-32,074 gsf, 1-16,347 gsf); Basic Education and Light
Vocation (24,889 gsf); Vocational Education (18,154 gsf);
Maintenance/Warehouse (7,723 gsf); Cafeteria (11,942 gsf);
Administration/Medical/Dental (13,678 gsf); and Pumphouse (785 gsf).
Also, at the owner's option, a Single Parent Dormitory (31,526 gsf) and
a Child Development Center (11,940 gsf) may be included. Other
alternates will also be included. The construction completion date of
the project is estimated to be 448 calendar days from Notice to
Proceed. The estimated cost range for construction is more than
$10,000,000. Plans and Specifications will be available on or about
December 5, 1996, only from the Architect/Engineering firm of DLK
Architecture, 410 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60605. Contact

project. Collect calls will not be accepted. It is emphasized that
requests for plans and specifications should be directed to the A/E
firm listed above to ensure proper handling of requests. Requests must
be in writing, and a $300 refundable bid-deposit is required. This
bid-deposit must be in the form of a certified check, cashier's check,
or money-order, made payable to the U.S. Department of Labor, and
submitted to the A/E firm at the time of the request. Plans and
Specifications will be made available for pick-up at the A/E's office,
or may be arranged for delivery at an additional charge. Any
additional shipping and/or handling charges must be pre-paid and COD
requests will not be accepted. Requests will be answered on a
first-come first-serve basis until the initial supply is exhausted. For
requests made after supplies are exhausted, the Contracting Officer may
determine whether or not payment of a fee is warranted. This
non-refundable fee shall not to exceed the actual cost of duplication
of the IFB documents, plus COD charges. A Pre-Bid Conference and a
Pre-Bid Walk-Thru are scheduled for January 7, 1997, at 10:00 A.M.
local time, location: the Harold Washington Library, 400 South State
Street, Chicago, Illinois. The Pre-Bid Walk-Thru will follow the
conference. Bid Opening is scheduled for February 6, 1997, at 2:00 P.M.
local time at the A/E's office. This procurement is offered on an
unrestricted basis (Full and Open Competition) and is subject to Public
Law 95-507 and includes Clause Number 52.219-8, ''Utilization of Small
Business Concerns and Small Disadvantaged Business Con- cerns,'' and
Clause Number 52.219-13, ''Utilization of Women-Owned Small
Businesses.'' The successful contractor shall assure that small
business concerns, small disadvantaged business concerns, and
women-owned businesses have the maximum practicable opportunity to
participate in contract performance consistent with efficient
