14 -- MOD 7 WAFER INSTRUMENTATION SOL F42610-97-R-BBBBF POC For copy, Jack Albretsen/Lmka/(801)777-5793, For additional information contact Jack Albretsen/Lmka/(801)777-5793 The Air Force is procuring additional MOD 7 wafer instrumentation components for the minuteman Follow-on Test and Evaluation flight test program at Vandenberg AFB. The MOD 7 instrumentation wafer contains three sybsystems; Command Destruct, C-Band Transponder, and Telemetry. the Command Destruct subsystem provides the capability to destroy the missile in flight should it deviate from the expected flight path. The Transponder subsystem is used to obtain accurate position information for tracking the missile throughout the flight. The Telemetry subsystem collects and processes critical flight performance data that is used to assess the reliability and performance of the missile subsystems. All subsystems are essential for flight. This procurement includes the complete MOD 7 instrumentation wafer, the raceway cable, the conduit support set, the interval timer, and the inertia switch. These components are only installed on the missile at Vandenberg AFB and alter the missile structure and configuration for test purposes. these components are required to interface with the GRP (Guidance Replacement Program) guidance set. The procurement of these components is essential to the accomplishment of the flight test program. the manufacturer is required to work with Vandenberg AFB Range Safety and must meet the range safety specifications. A working knowledge of the Minuteman missile flight test program, Vandenberg AFB launch procedures, and ground support equipment instrumentation is required. Deviation from the current manufacturing procedures, a change in the vendor of the subcomponents, or the substitution of components will require requalification testing and Vandenberg AFB range safety coordination.
