QUALIFICATION NOTICE: THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. This notice is to
publicize the availability of Qualification Requirements for
certification of F-5A/B Aircraft Improved Wing Design. The requirement
for a certification of design and qualification of manufacturer is
based on the advanced age of the F-5A/B fleet, the susceptibility of
the current spare wing design to fatigue, corrosion and stress
corrosion cracking and in anticipation of future requirements. The
F-5A/B Aircraft is a supersonic tactical fighter. The F-5A/B wing is a
fully cantilevered, stressed skin assembly constructed as a single
unit composed of spars, ribs and milled skins that are continuous from
tip to tip. Honeycomb assemblies also exist in the form of wing panel
assemblies. The basic material used during construction is aluminum
with the exception of a couple of steel ribs. Information and complete
copy of the Qualification Requirements can be obtained by submitting
a written or FAX request to the Attention of Mr. Joe Torres; SA-ALC/BC;
