A -- SUPPORT SERVICE OF THE NATIONAL SPACE SCIENCE DATA CENTER (NSSDC) SOL RFP5-06335-206 POC Rosa E. Acevedo, Contracting Officer, 301-286-6993. NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) on a sole source basis and in accordance with 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1)--Only One Responsible Source, to Hughes STX Corporation for a one year follow-on to NAS5-30960. This one year contract will provide services in support of the operations of the National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC) which is responsible for the acquisition, ingestion, management, and dissemination of NASA's mission data and related information. The Contractor is responsible for developing, maintaining, evolving, and operating sophisticated computer data, and information systems. A competitive follow-on to this effort is anticipated to take place in the near future, however, this action is needed in order to maintain the management and accessibility of NASA's data to both NASA's space scientists and the general public. Hughes STX has maintained the management and accessibility of the NSSDC for past years. This experience and knowledge is essential to support the NSSDC until the follow-on contract is awarded.
