COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 22,1996 PSA#1727Commander, Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, Code 210000D, 1
Administration Circle, China Lake, CA 93555-6100 A -- ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES FOR HIGH TEMPERATURE INSULATORS SOL SOURCES
SOUGHT POC Anita R. Dale, Contract Specialist, (619) 939-9656 or Doreen
Paul, Contracting Officer, (619) 939-9665. The Naval Air Warfare Center
Weapons Division (NAWCWPNS) China Lake, CA, is seeking information on
advanced technologies for high temperature insulators for Navy high
speed propulsion applications. NAWCWPNS is assembling information on
available advanced insulator technologies that significantly enhance
the operating range for missiles with speeds greater than Mach 4.0 by
providing a thermal barrier or active cooling. The primary focus of the
request is to identify technologies that decrease the aeroheating
effect of high mach numbers on components, materials, fuels and/or
propellants in a missile system. Information on insulators that act as
thermal barriers or provide active cooling through phase change or
activation energy absorption from 1200 degrees F. to 1400 degrees F.
for 40 minutes are also sought. The information collected will be used
to support the planning process for insulating advanced missile
systems. Interested parties shall provide their information to
Commander (Code 473240D), NAWCWPNS (ATTN: M. Swett), 1 Administration
Circle, China Lake, CA 93555-6100 no later than COB 21 January 1997.
