R -- VETERINARIAN SERVICES SOL RFP 665-8-97 DUE 010397 POC Chris Crader, 818/895-9365, Contracting Officer The VA Medical Center,Sepulveda,California has a requirement for the services of a Veterinarian. Services are required 20 hours per week for a period of one (1) year. The Veterinarian must have the following qualifications:(a)Certified by the Board of American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM);(b)Experience with non-human primates;(c)At least ten (10) years of experience in research animal care;(d)Mastery of veterinary medical arts and sciences;(e)Knowledge of appropriate animal models to be used in laboratory studies;(f)Knowledge of recent developments in the speciality fields of veterinary pathology, surgery, parasitology, toxicology and laboratory animal medicine;(g)Through knowledge of policies and regulations at the national, state, and local (city and county) levels that pertain to the procurement, care and use of animals in research situations involving biohazardous agents;(h)Through knowledge of live animal import and export regulations;(i)Must have the ability to coordinate the implantation of new development and/or regulations concerning the procurement, care and use of animals in research at the local or regional level;(j)Through knowledge of humane treatment and animal care practice and (k)Have the ability to coordinate needs of approximately twenty six (26) investigators for laboratory animal models to conduct research.
