61 -- CABLE, MEDIUM VOLTAGE SOL N63387-97-Q-K004 DUE 121096 POC Inge Stillwell, Lead Purchasing Agent, (619)556-8723, Jessie Bermudez, Contracting Officer, (619)5567244, FAX:(619)556-7775. 10,200 FEET Cable, medium voltage shall be single conductor, ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) insulated, shielded power cable shall be at 15kv, 133 percent insulation level. The cable shall be capable of operating continuously in both wet and dry locations at 90 degree C for normal operation, 130 degree C under emergency operating conditions and 250 degree C under short circuit conditions. The conductor shield, insulation, and the insulation shield shall be applied continuously in the same pass by an in-line triple extrusion process. The cable shall be insulated, jacketed, and tested in accordance with AEIC CS6, in the same plant by the same manufacturer. Certified AEIC qualification data shall be required prior to order placement. Cable ends must be sealed. Conductor shall be class B stranded annealed copper per part 2 of AEIC S-68-516. Conductor Shield: Shall be extruded black, semi- conducting thermosetting compound thermally and chemically compatible with the conductor and the insulation, applied over the conductor. Conductor shield shall be uniformly and firmly bonded to the overlying insulation and be free stripping from the conductor. The thickness of the conductor shield shall conform to AEIC CS6. Insulation: Shall be EPR conforming to AEIC CS6 and shall have a minimum average thickness of 220 mils. The ethylene content of the EPR compound shall not exceed 72 percent by weight. Insulation Shield: Shall be extruded black, semi-conducting thermosetting compound thermally and chemically compatible with the insulation and the copper tape shield, applied directly over the insulation. The insulation shield shall be free stripping, leaving no conductor particles or other residual on the insulation surface. The thickness of the insulation shield shall conform to AEIC CS6. Copper tape shield shall have a thickness of 5 mils, helicaly applied over the insulation shield with a minimum of 12.5 percent overlap. Jacket shall be PVC with a minimum thickness of 80 mils. Written solicitations will not be forwarded. Oral/FAX quotes will be accepted. Quotes received after COB on due date will not be considered. (0326)
