606-253-8892. The Federal Bureau of Prisons intends to award a
nonpersonal service contract to the qualified individual or business
capable of providing respiratory therapy services to the inmate
population housed at the Federal Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky.
Services include but are not limited to: assessing patients and
providing recommended treatments including: oxygen therapy, pulmonary
function testing, CPAP, induced sputums, arterial blood gases,
pentamidine, nebulizer, and IPPB treatments. Providing preventative
maintenance on IPPB and respiratory therapy equipment, provide patient
education for asthmatic, COPD and other respiratory patients,
including proper use of peak flow meters and nebulizers. Requirements
include: Graduate of an approved respiratory therapy program with the
National Board Examination for Respiratory Therapists, with
documentation as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. The contract
period will be a base year, not to exceed twelve months from date of
award, with four, one year option periods for renewal. This is a
nonpersonal service, not to exceed 30 hours per week, and not a
personnel appointment. Estimated number of sessions is 2 per week with
a session being a 4 hour time period. The anticipated issue date of
solicitations is December 12, 1996, with an anticipated receipt of
offers due by January 14, 1997. Requests for proposal solicitation
