84 -- UPGRADE TO AN/PVS-7B NIGHT VISION GOGGLE POC Contact Ms. Kristine Rinaldo, Contract Specialist, 703-784-5822 Ext 224. The U. S. Marine Corps is conducting a market research to collect information for upgrading selected AN/PVS-7B Night Vision Goggles to allow their use in conjunction with military diving operations. This will require the goggle to withstand prolonged submersion in sea water. The submersion requirement equates to operation to a depth of 66' for a period in excess of 120 minutes. The solution desired should be in the form of an upgrade kit which contains the part or parts required to complete the modification. This kit should be installable at the intermediate level of maintenance and repair by a U. S. Marine in the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS of 2171 (Electro-Optics Repair Technician) using tools and test equipment currently found in the Marine Corps system. The kit should not require the use of a case or enclosure for the goggle, instead it should be a minor modification to the existing goggle body/lens assemblies to accomplish the required task. It is desired that a replacement of the goggle body not be required. Interested parties are requested to submit two (2) copies of the following data, (as a minimum) no later than 20 December 1996: (1) catalogs or other published product literature that describes the product and product capability, (2) standard commercial agreements that describe the practices in producing, distributing, and support commercial items, i.e., terms for warranties, maintenance, packaging, and marking, (3) delivery schedules, (4) cost estimates, and, (5) business size and status. This information shall be used to determine whether the upgrade kit is a commercial or non-developmental item suitable to meet the technical and functional characteristics stated herein.
