A -- ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR PROTOTYPE MUNITIONS DEMI LITARIZATION FACILITY EMPLOYING CRYOFRACTURE TECHNOLOGY POC Contact Andy Lute, Project Engineer, (201) 724-3310 or Al Heller, email aheller, Contrqact Specialist, (201) 724-2749. This is a sources sought/market survey to determine if there are any qualified sources to provide engineering services for the development of a prototype munitions demilitarization facilitywhich employs cryofracture technology. The facility will be installed at an Army site to be determined and shall be based on the concept which has been successfully proven at Dugway Proving Ground's existing cryofracture facility in Dugway, Utah. The contractor shall be responsible for the detailed design, fabrication, installation and demonstration testing of the system. The facility is to be capable of remotely processing small, explosive loaded munitions individually or in groups not to exceed explosive totals of 8 pounds of Composition B or the energetic equivalent thereof. The processing involves placing the munition(s) into a bath of liquid nitrogen for a pre-established period of time, transferring the munitions(s) from the bath to a hydraulic press, fracturing the munition(s) to access the energetic materials and transferring the fractured munition(s) to a pre-existing thermal destruction unit. This is not a Request for Proposal and the Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of any information that is submitted.
