Warren, 919-286-6914, 6444 NOTICE OF INTENT: The VA Medical Center, Durham, NC intend to negotiate a sole source contract with Elekta, Inc. for the purchase of a Leksell Micro Stereotactic Frame Model G with Quick Fixation Screws. Frame must be capable of providing MRI accuracy less than 1 mm, must be useful for localization of small structures as is required for functional stereotactic procedures such as pallidotomy and thalamotomy and must be light weight and be capable of allowing small incremental adjustments during surgery. The agency has determined it is likely that substantial cost to the Government (that are not expected to be recovered through competition) would be incurred and unacceptable delays would ensure in fulfilling the agency's requirements if a competitive solicitation was issued. The agency has already determined that only one responsible source is capable of satisfying the Government's requirements. The applicable authority for this intent is 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1. This is not a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP). See Note 22. SIC 5047 (0332)
