The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) has a requirement for computational and theoretical support for vacuum-electronic device and developmental efforts to be carried out both on-site and off-site at NRL and NSWC/Crane Division. The contractor will conduct scientific investigation of basic processes that limit present vacuum electronic device performance in the areas of noise, jitter, efficiency, duty cycle, and life, with an emphasis on crossed-field amplifiers (CFAs). The contractor will develop predictive, diagnostic, and remedial capabilities (analytical and computational) relating to noise performance in linear and crossed-field microwave tubes. The contractor shall improve the speed, accuracy, fidelity, and user-friendliness of industry modeling tools, both developed and under development. It will also interact with US power tube industry and universities to exchange data and information. It is anticipated that performance will be one year and two -one year options.
