Simonson, Contract Specialist The Department of Veterans Affairs
medical Center, Bath, New York is seeking a prospective Architect
Engineer firm to provide A/E Services to perform investigative
services, design development, construction period services and site
visits to develop contract drawings, specifications and cost estimate
for construction of Ambulatory Care Addition to the Main Hospital,
Building 76, located at this facility. Addition shall include: (a)
demolishing and removing existing front entrance steps from grade to
access lobby located at first floor level; (b) connect existing two
additions on north and south end with a new two-story addition which
will consist of ground floor entrance/lobby area and first floor; (c)
construct new roof over the new structure which shall match existing
additions with brick veneer finish. Total construction area is
approximately 10,000 GSF (gross square footage). Project phasing shall
be determined prior to commencement of work. Design shall complement,
equate and amplify existing structure and adjacent facilities. All
design criteria shall be in accordance with applicable codes,
regulations and established guidelines. The current building is
eligible for historic designation, therefore, the A/E shall be
responsible to incorporate appropriate design criteria to be in
compliance with all historic preservation concerns (i.e. New York State
Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation). Evaluation
criteria will be as follows: (1) Specialized experience of the firm to
perform the work required; (2) Capacity of the firm to perform the
work within the established time frame; (3) Past record of performance
on Government contracts; (4) familiarity with the area in which the
project is located; (5) Geographic location and facilities of the
firm's working office; (6) Specific experience and qualifications of
personnel proposed for assignment to the project. Firms desiring
consideration must have working office located within 125 mile radius
of Bath, New York city limits. All interested A/E firms are invited to
submit 254s and 255s. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. Responses
must be received on or before December 27, 1996. Submit necessary
