Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (VNTSC) intends to issue
a competitive solicitation to acquire contractor services to provide a
broad range of technical support for the programmatic requirements of
all elements of the VNTSC in the Information Systems Services area.
The period of performance will be a base period of two years with
renewal options at the election of the Government for three additional
12 month periods. Work contemplated will be performed primarily
on-site and/or in close proximity to the VNTSC on a ''Term'' form
Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee basis with an initial requirement of approximately
300 productive labor years of support during the first contract year.
All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered
by the Government. The solicitation and any documents related to this
procurement will be available on the Volpe Center Acquisition Division
home page at ''http://www.volpe.dot.gov/procure.htm''. These documents
will be available in text format and reside on a WWW server which may
be accessed using Web browsers. Offerors desiring to receive E-Mail
notification of the solicitation's posting and availability for
downloading may register at the Volpe Center site. A hard copy of the
solicitation will be mailed only to those interested parties who do not
wish to download the solicitation from this site. Requests for a hard
copy must be submitted in writing via regular mail. Telephone requests
will not be honored. Firms interested in receiving the solicitation
must respond no later than fifteen (15) days after publication of this
notice. The Government plans to issue/post the solicitation on or
about December 19, 1996. This notice is for informational purposes for
Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The
Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization (OSDBU), has a program to assist minority,
women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire
short-term working capital assistance for transportation-related
contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program
(STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable
financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000. For further
