Commerce's Bureau of Export Administration and Economic Development
Administration and the U.S. Small Business Administration are jointly
sponsoring a technology transfer program, ``Commercialization of
Defense Technology'', on Wednesday, December 11, 1996, at the Lightsey
Center, College of Charleston, in Charleston, SC. The objectives of
the conference are to introduce small-and medium-sized businesses to
the Federal Defense Laboratory System, outline what help and funding is
available, and to give an overview of the technologies that are
available for commercialization. The forum will also offer the
opportunity to meet with the executives, engineers, and scientists who
are responsible for these technologies and their transfer to the
private sector in a unique one-on-one setting. Speakers will discuss
sources of financing, the legal aspects of technology transfer, and
examples and success stories. Each attendee will be given a copy of the
recently released President's report, Technology in the National
Interest, a catalog of technologies available for licensing from DOE
Defense Laboratories, a set of briefing documents, information on other
government resources available, and a participants list. The meeting is
